The early bird... doesn't work for me

It's no secret that for outdoor photography, sunlight is very important. And most of you probably also know that the best times are during the 'golden hour' which is just before sunset and just after sunrise.

I usually shoot my pictures and videos in the evening, because that's when I (and my photographing friends) have time. :-P


Now, I don't know if it's true, but some have said that the light during sunrise is even prettier than during the evening.. so I decided to try that. Now, I'm known for a lot of things.. but me being a cheery and active morning person ain't one of them!


So, I don't know.. perhaps the sunrise light might be nicer.. but I think I look better at 8 in the evening than 5 in the morning! Perhaps I needed more coffee... or perhaps I should have used the light in a different way. I'm not convinced yet.


Also, I'll be going on a small holiday to France soon. And I will test if the light is different than over here in the Netherlands. I'm a practical scientist,.. so that means lots of experiments! ;-)


I'll probably try photography at sunrise a few more times.. if I manage to drag myself out of my bed again at this early hour.

    I usually shot my outfit posts when my husband has free time so it is entirely up to him. I did, however, noticed that the photos taken during the golden hour are really much nicer...but I know that for a lot of people it is hard to organize themselves at this time. My husband usually watches the news during the gold hour, ha ha....shooting in the morning? I must admit I'm not a morning person either...most of the time anyway. I'm fine with getting up early if I went to bed early, but that almost never happens so...


    you look absolutely gorgeous as usual...I loveeeeeeeee that blue dress...and those heels are fantastic!

    I think sunrise agrees with you because you look gorgeous in these photos. And the color of that dress is so soft on the eyes. I would prefer to shoot photos at sunrise if I had the option. I am a morning person and I usually wake up by 6:30am... However, my husband is not a morning person so we often shoot in the evening.

    Well, I think you look beautiful here and I never would have guessed that you were tired. I personally prefer evening too. Maaaaaybe the lighting is better in the AM, but I also feel like "golden hour" in the morning is a lot quicker and then it turns into a very bright and harsh light quickly. I feel like with sunset you technically have 1-2 hours to play with (especially in various flash and camera functions) and there's the whole bonus of not needing to style yourself before the sun comes up haha. Just my opinion! Great post! XO
